Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Senior Cyber Security Compliance and Exercise /Engineer to support cyber program activities in direct support of the Department of Energy (DOE) located at the Forrestal Building, 1000 Independence Avenue, Washington DC.   



Specific Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Provide administrative support for Development and Production Servers of the DOE Telos Xacta and Continuum products. (including both machine and application Admin.) This includes:
    • Act as chief administrator of the Telos products (both hardware and software).
    • Assist with user accounts and appropriate accesses to projects within the Telos application environment.
    • Keep the applications updated as new builds of Xacta and/or Continuum are released with new updates and features as directed by the CISO or his designee.
    • Provide communication bridge between the CISO and Telos on problem solving and reporting.
  • Conduct cyber security inspections and site visitations as directed.
  • Perform audits on System Security Plans.
  • Review all key program documentation to address all known and newly discovered gaps and to address all related Federal regulations and legislations and departmental requirements.
  • Act as the Component Referee for set of annual exercises.
    • Keep up-to-date on all exercise information.
    • Brief CISO on the direction of exercise for the year.
    • Recruit players for each of the three exercise segments.
    • Act as trusted agent during the entire exercise cycle.



Required Skills:
Candidates must have the following required skills:

  • Must have a minimum of 9+ years experience working with information management to include: information assurance, cyber security, network security, risk management, security policy and implementation. 
  • Qualified applicants must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • CISSP certification or equivalent required.
  • Must have an active DOD Top Secret, IC TS or DOE Q Security Clearance.
  • Must have experience working in personnel and/or physical security in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical discipline or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must have extensive cyber security knowledge, background and expertise, and will maintain up-to-date knowledge of threats and vulnerabilities as they arise. 
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of the C&A process is critical.
  • Previous experience with cyber security at a major Federal department/agency is required. 
  • Candidate must be able to participate in regular travel (20%) to CONUS field sites.  



Desired Skills:

  • Previous operational experience with network security, previous tactical experience with development and implementation of security policies, reviewing systems for compliance to regulations and standards, as well as extensive experience with certification and accreditation of Federal systems preferred.
  • Ability to create simple exercises (done on a desktop with either paper or computer screens) or exercises for use in either a Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM) or in-house training.
  • Ability to work with a very diverse group of people
